Get a head start

We offer a nine-week Summer Analyst opportunity in New York designed for exceptional college freshmen and sophomores who have a minimum 3.5 GPA and demonstrate how they can contribute to the J.P. Morgan team.

You will work on the same projects and be given the same opportunities as rising senior Summer Analysts. Internships are available in Investment Banking, Public Finance, Sales & Trading, Research, CIB Risk, Treasury Services and Investor Services and will prepare you for possible future internships with J.P. Morgan and future full-time employment with the firm.

As a Summer Analyst, you will have the opportunity to start your own professional network with other interns, colleagues and senior managers. And, you will be invited to senior manager lunches, receptions, firmwide presentations and other exciting events.

Training and development

You will have the same training opportunities as the rising senior Summer Analysts and will receive the training and tools you need to succeed. We also assign junior and senior-level mentors to every student who is offered a summer internship.

Canada Education Savings Grant

Your child could receive up to $7,200 from the Government of Canada to help pay for his or her education after high school.

The Canada Education Savings Grant is money the government adds to your child's Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP ) to help their savings grow. After high school, your child can withdraw the money to help pay for either full-time or part-time studies:

  • in an apprenticeship program;
  • at a CEGEP ;
  • at a trade school;
  • at a college; or
  • at a university.

How the Canada Education Savings Grant works

To receive the Canada Education Savings Grant (CESG ), a Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP ) must have been opened for the child. (Anyone can put money into an RESP for any child; you do not have to be the child's parent.)

The basic CESG provides 20 cents on every dollar you contribute, up to a maximum of $500 on an annual contribution of $2,500. If you cannot make a contribution in any given year, you may be able to catch up in future years. See Carry Forward Room .

This grant is available up until the end of the calendar year in which the child turns 17.

Depending on the child's primary caregiver's net family income, he or she may also be eligible to receive the Additional Canada Education Savings Grant (A-CESG ). This grant adds an additional 10% or 20% onto the first $500 put into the RESP .

Eligibility

The Canada Education Savings Grant is available until the end of the calendar year in which the child turns 17, as long as:

  • the child is a Canadian resident;
  • an RESP has been opened in their name; and
  • a request is made for the grant.

Note: Children who are 16 or 17 years old may be eligible to receive the Canada Education Savings Grant if at least one of the following conditions is met:

  • a minimum of $2,000 was contributed (and not withdrawn from) to all of the child's RESP s before the end of the calendar year they turned 15; or
  • a minimum annual contribution of $100 was made to (and not withdrawn from) the RESP in at least four of the years before the end of the calendar year the child turned 15.

This means that, to be eligible for the grant, you must start to save for your child's RESP before the end of the calendar year in which they turn 15 years of age.

Apply for the Canada Education Savings Grant

Follow these two easy steps:

  1. Get a Social Insurance Number (SIN ) for yourself and for your child. There's no fee, but certain documents. such as a birth certificate. are required.
  2. Open an RESP. make a contribution and complete the Canada Education Savings Grant application form. Your RESP provider will then apply for the grant for you.

Once approved, the grant money will be deposited directly into your child's RESP .

What are K-12 Schools?

The K-12 school system is the one that most Americans are familiar with. It is comprised of 13 grades (kindergarten-12th grade), and K-12 schools are found in the US, Canada, Britain, and some parts of Europe. This article will tell you more about K-12 schools in the United States.

In the US, K-12 education is compulsory. Education can be had from either a public or a private school, and all children once they reach the age of at least six must attend. The compulsory education system in the US got its start over a century and a half ago, when Horace Mann established an education system for the state of Massachusetts. By 1918, children all over America were required to go to school.

As we mentioned, kindergarten is the first step in the K-12 school process. The word “kindergarten” is from the German for “children’s garden”, and it was the idea of Friedrich Froebel, who wanted children to have a place to learn and play. The first kindergarten class was in the UK in 1852, and the first in the US was established in 1856. Though education was required in many states, kindergarten was not.

At the beginning, most schools did not require children to stay past a certain grade; compulsory education only applied to children of elementary age. In a lot of places, children were allowed to miss part of the school year because they were needed to help with farming chores during the fall harvest. Over the years, every state developed its own K-12 school system, and compulsory attendance was expanded to include children from kindergarten through age 16. Funding came from local, state and federal sources. By 1950, compulsory education was established, but K-12 schools were in their very beginnings. Since the US Department of Education was formed in 1979 until today, K-12 schools have been largely the same.

Today, funding for K-12 schools’ funding is tied to their performance on standardized tests, via the No Child Left Behind act. The act requires that states test students at particular grade levels in order to keep getting federal funding. There is a great emphasis on achievement in reading, and the act was intended to hold schools to a higher standard of accountability. Currently, the K-12 school system provides an education to all students, free of charge. American families have the choice to send their children to private schools. at their own expense. K-12 education has gone through a lot of changes in the past, and in the future, it may grow to include options for students beyond the 12th grade.

The last step to becoming a special education teacher is to apply for certification. After meeting all of the other requirements, this step is easy. There is usually a fee to be handed in with the paperwork, and then, upon approval, a teacher can begin his or her first year officially on the job. As schools become more inclusive, special education teachers and general education teachers increasingly work together in general education classrooms. Special education teachers help general educators adapt curriculum materials and teaching techniques to meet the needs of students with disabilities. They coordinate the work of teachers, teacher assistants, and related personnel, such as therapists and social workers, to meet the individualized needs of the student within inclusive special education programs.

Special education teachers work in a variety of settings. Student Career Experience Program (SCEP)

A range of government organizations employ students through the Student Career Experience Program. Student Temporary Employment Program (STEP)
